Dr Victoria Carr
Scientific Programmer at the Wellcome Sanger Institute
Creator of ResearcHers Code

I am a Scientific Programmer in the Pathogen Informatics Unit at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Primarily I work on the Global Pneumococcal Sequencing Project which you can read more about here.
I completed my PhD at King’s College London funded by the BBSRC LIDo DTP. I was also based at The Alan Turing Institute between October 2019 and March 2020. During my PhD, I applied data science and develop bioinformatic tools to better understand the spread of antimicrobial resistance in microbial communities.
I run a community and host a podcast called ResearcHers Code supporting women and/or non-binary in tech and research. I love to build software, create new ideas and collaborate with others, which I endeavour to apply to my research.
